Providing Encouragement and Support
On Tuesday, April 11th — A Place of Healing will be hosting a support group for those recovering, living, or surviving an eating disorder. Family members of those who may have/had an eating disorder are encouraged to join.
The focus of this support group is to provide a comforting place to those who may need support or guidance (referrals). Savannah Coffey, an eating disorder survivor and current President of A Place Of Healing will be leading the group, along with a peer who is a certified massage therapist.
Fun, relaxing, and positive activities will be available during support groups for all individuals who join. Expressive art will be available for those who like and enjoy to free their mind by painting, drawing, or doing any type of meaningful craft that best suit them. Expressive art is a form of communication for some who may not feel comfortable sharing their emotions, feelings, troubles, or happiness verbally. It allows them to truly and fully expressive themselves and can increase self-awareness and in turn, improve self-determination and feelings of self-control.
Please note: This is a single event. With enough attendance and support we will try and make this a regular event. Fundraising for support groups can be found here.
